So, I did my Aviron Strong workout, took a shower, and had so many questions as I dried off.
For instance, do people still even go out clubbing and dance anymore? I mean in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, we went to clubs and danced our asses off. Not stand around and talk.
I suppose in the 80s it was because we were making killer music. The 90s we were still making history making music, and we thought the world could possibly end. Y2K and all 🤣🤣🤣 Remember shutting down all electronics, for a second, then party like it is 1999 forever 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
2000s, we were wondering how we survived the 90s, and starting to wonder what is going on with the music. 2010s yeah, major shift across the board. Not for the better. There was a whole lotta iffy music. Some I struggle to call music, as much as it was different noise 🤣🤣🤣
Then we had COVID, no social for fear of illness or dying. Now we are here. The last time I went out hard core dancing was in 2022, to one of the top 10 dance clubs in the world, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I had forgotten just how much fun I had dancing til morning, heart thumping, dance offs, and drinking cause you cant get drunk, because you are just burning it off. I even forgot I was even 52.
I would say like I was dancing like no one was watching, but hell, we were dancing like we were all kids in a dance off. It was AWESOME!!!! Nice to know I still have some moves.
But, as I had some tunes stuck in my head during my shower, and after, I wondered, do people, even kids, still do the whole club scene anymore?
I remember going to a different club every night except maybe Friday. There was a whole circuit in Los Angeles. Every night was a different club, every week. Then the favorites on rotation.
Monday’s you were at this club, Tuesday’s that, and every day of the week. And if you wanted to hang with the weekend warrior, you went to this club Friday, or Saturday. Lol. The after clubs were epic too. I am certain I hit most of them from Silverlake to Woodland Hills, Saugus to Newport, at one time or another. I did have my favorites though.
In hindsight, I did a lot of traveling back in the day. Hitting the club circuits in big cities was kinda my thing. But, I learned all the big cities had club circuits too.
You go to Seattle, Philadelphia, Manhattan, Houston, Key West, Toronto, Denver, Phoenix, Charleston, Chicago, Memphis, Honolulu, Vegas, they all had a killer dance circuit. Met amazing people, had a blast, danced my ass off, roller skated in a bikini in Phili at a killer dance club, ate like a beast. Really happy my liver thrives. It was all about fun, dance, and grabbing breakfast after. Of course cant leave out the occasional hook up. I never said I was a saint 🤣🤣🤣
But, what happened to those fun times? Hmm… Just curious.
I mean I know 20+ year olds are all about being responsible conscious adults. But, have they, or do they even experience what we did? Hell, if I had Uber or Lyft back in the day, I would have definitely booked at 3am flights to somewhere. Greece, Moracco, Spain? Turkey? Ibiza? You know I would have definitely left for that.
So, what do kids do now? Or better yet our Gen X? I mean concerts are fun and all. But, are there Gen X clubs? Way too loud music, dancing, laughing way to hard, that won’t cost you a mortgage payment? Where people actually dance? House parties are cool and all… But, sometimes it is just great to be juvenile. Let your soul be that kid.
We don’t have money for that kind of stuff anymore, just trying to survive.
