In today’s times and perilous conditions, we all want to help, or some, and many need help. CharityWatch.org is a website dedicated to getting you the facts, giving names and ratings dedicated to your causes, whether specific or general. It also lists various charities and organizations to seek help as well.
We need to be there for each other. In order to heal, learn, hope, grow, and prosper in live and living.
There is no shame in seeking help. In fact it is a blessing, that help is available, both to the recipient and giver. Saint Francis of Assisi said in one of my favorite prayers, also known as The Peace Prayer, Make Me An Instrument Of Your Peace, or Simple Prayer Of Peace . . .
“For It Is In Giving, That We Receive.”
CharityWatch.org is a website that has been around for 25+ years. Their website tells you the details about various charities up to date information. How operate and who they operate for. How their funds are acquired, spent, and allocated. How they help others.
Mission & Goals
The mission of CharityWatch, a nonprofit charity watchdog and information service, is to maximize the effectiveness of every dollar contributed to charity by providing donors with the information they need to make more informed giving decisions.
To research and evaluate the efficiency, accountability and governance of nonprofit organizations; to educate the public about the importance of wise giving; to inform the public of wasteful or unethical practices of nonprofits and provide recognition to highly effective and ethical charities; to advise CharityWatch members and conduct special investigations and evaluations of nonprofits; to expand and re-define our programs periodically to meet the continuing challenge of keeping the contributor informed.
Groups included on the CharityWatch Top-Rated list generally spend 75% or more of their budgets on programs, spend $25 or less to raise $100 in public support, do not hold excessive assets in reserve, have met CharityWatch’s governance benchmarks, and receive “open-book” status for disclosure of basic financial information and documents to CharityWatch. Please see the Our Process page of the website for more information on the rating criteria and methodology that CharityWatch adheres to.
Because many factors determine a worthy charity, we at CharityWatch suggest that you use the ratings on this page not as the sole determining factor in your decision, but rather as an aid.
This list is subject to change depending on the information CharityWatch receives concerning charitable organizations.
