So, we seldom do Walmart. Like maybe once a month? Maybe? Anyhow, we needed some stuff that is specific to Walmart and some small things that we didn’t want to do an extra trip to Safeway for. Afterall, we still had to go to Costco.

Well we get our stuff, checkout, load up, and start driving away. I ALWAYS CHECK MY RECEIPT!!! One of the things we bought from there was the unsweetened little packs of Black Cherry Kool-aid. I add them to my water for flavor. I don’t like soda or sweet stuff, plus one pack has 50% of your daily vitamin C. I drink a lot of water this way. Works great, zero calories.

So I bought 21 packs of 30¢ per pack of Kool-aid, .90/3pks, $6.30 in total. Ok. I told the checker I had 21 packs. Get to the car, Chris is driving off, I see I was charged $66.00 for 220 packs of Black Cherry Kool-aid!!! I was shocked!!! Needless to say, I go back into the store show them the snafu. They have great customer service. They were awesome. Next thing I knew, 8 managers are at the customer service booth explaining that they have regular meetings about this EXACT PROBLEM!!!

Apparently, Walmart has implemented a policy that the checkers are well aware of. They must enter each item, scan each item, or use their scan gun for each item. It is so mistakes like this don’t happen. Because of the one mass entry the guy did, they had to manually reverse charge me the snafu,199 MANUAL REVERSE CHARGES!!! I felt horrible. The guy got written up, which made me feel worse. They told me don’t feel badly. They have had this issue with all of the checkers multiple times, and it not only triggers audits, it makes their bosses think they aren’t doing their job.

Apparently, this is very common at many stores. Can you imagine how many people don’t look at their receipts, think what they paid is right, and they were actually overly charged by God knows how much. It is so easy to do at a grocery store too.

I felt so badly about the situation, the guy, the customer service lady reversing the charges, and we the customers that this happens to on a regular basis. However, at least they were so nice about it. But wow!!!

My rules for shopping anywhere in person…

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!!! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BAGS (make sure you leave with what you paid for!)!!! ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CART BEFORE YOU DRIVE AWAY!!!
